Day 14 - 2 Weeks Later

This is a photo taken 2 weeks after "Conception" on Day 14. The gravel shown below is a bit too moist, so the photo didn't come out too well; it doesn't show the growth clearly. There is a good amount of growth that occured these last 2 weeks. The HC is very healthy and new sets of leaves sprout every few days.

Day 08 - 1 week after "Conception"

1 week after planting, Day 08. Things look pretty much the same as Day 05, there is new leaf growth but not much more. At least the HC isn't dying and is growing at a slow but steady pace.

Day 05

There is slow, but noticeable growth. Many of the stems have already sprouted new sets of leaves. Here is a photo from the "top down" to show what the plants look like on Day 05.

Day 01 - Conception

These photos were taken on Day 01 (10/12/07), the tank was planted with a few sprigs of Hemianthus callitrichoides in about 1cm of ADA AquaSoil Amazonia. There is no filtration, since the plants are growing emersed. The style of "aquascaping" is an Iwagumi style design.

The photo below shows the setup from a distance. The lights are on a timer for approximately 7 hours. The top of the tank is covered with a piece of acrylic cut to the same size as the opening of the tank to keep moisture from escaping. The level of water is kept slightly above the lowest point of the AquaSoil.
